Michele P Brooks M.Ed.
Principal Consultant

Michele P. Brooks is a parent activist, educational advocate and educator.  She currently serves as the Principal Consultant for Transformative Solutions in Education. In her former role, she served as Assistant Superintendent in the Boston Public Schools, with specific oversight of family, student and community engagement through the BPS Office of Engagement. She has over twenty-five years of organizational development and education policy experience working with both non-profits and public institutions. She successfully developed and implemented a framework that strategically aligned engagement capacity building efforts to core academic priorities and direction within the Boston Public Schools. The U.S. Department of Education’s Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family and School Partnerships was heavily influenced by the framework implemented in Boston during her tenure.

In 2013, Ms. Brooks was named one of fifteen nationally recognized “Leaders to Learn From” by Education Week Magazine. In addition to serving as a member of the Boston School Committee for four years, Ms. Brooks was also the Founding Director of the Boston Parent Organizing Network, which focused on building a city-wide coalition of parent and community organizing groups focused on the improvement of the Boston Public Schools. She successfully led the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic direction and plan during her tenure as director. As the Principal Consultant for Transformative Solutions, her client base includes; Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Alaska Association of School Boards, Sacramento County Office of Education, Elk Grove Unified School District, CA and Allentown School District, PA.  Ms. Brooks is a founding member of the District Leaders Network on Family and Community Engagement. She is currently serves as the lead family and community consultant providing technical assistance and strategic planning for national family and community engagement efforts with Institute for Educational Leadership.
